IMITATED IMITATORS
Have among yourselves the same attitude that is also yours in Christ Jesus...-Philippians 2:5

My daughter, at age five, has become a splendid mimic. I guess all kids enter a stage when they become sponges and absorb practically everything they observe around them. Sometimes, I am dumbfounded to hear my daughter's expressions: "It's okay honey-bun-bun. Everything will be alright." "If you fall you will have bukol. "

Her speech patterns, sing-song intonations and facial contours match mine flawlessly! Including my negative mannerisms!

And then I wonder, on a wider scale, are the examples I set to people righteous enough to be imitated? If I see my actions being mimicked by someone, will I smile proudly or will I cower in embarrassment and shame? Conversely, do I follow the ways and lifestyles of those who can bring me closer to heaven? Do I lead a life of humility like St. Francis or am I simple hearted like St. Therese? Or am I as extravagant as a fashion trendsetter, irresponsible as a gambler or a worrywart like Martha?

Let us be imitators of Christ so that we, too, can be acceptable examples to others. Ginger U.

REFLECTION:
Examine yourself. Have you done something
today that
is worth
imitating?

Lord, transform
my devotions into
an authentic
life of faith.

St.Herculanus,
bishop and
martyr,
pray for us.
