THE LAST LEG
As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of
the Son of Man. -Luke 17: 26
The Men's National Basketball Team for the 1998 Asian Games was composed of the
best professional players in the country and was formed early in the year. They even went on a
training tour to the United States. When the Asian Games came in December, the Philippine team
won its first four games, three of them convincingly. But in its last elimination game against
South Korea, the Philippine team was a huge disappointment, losing by 20 points. The coach of
the Philippine team lamented the loss citing that they focused too much on China.
In today's Gospel, Jesus talks about preparedness for the second coming. We have
heard again and again about the need for preparation. But we might make the mistake that the
National Men's Team did. It is important to note that preparations for the last leg will only be
useful if and when we do reach that last leg of the journey. If we do not reach that point, then
all the ,preparation would have been for naught. JC J.

REFLECTION:
Take stock
of your
preparation
for Jesus'
second coming
and make sure
that your
preparations
match the
needs.
Be with us, Lord,
even as we
prepare for
the journey.
